What is your name, and what do you do?
My name is Jack Green. I am an Apprentice at Dalcour Maclaren. I have schemes with the Environment Agency.
What made you decide an apprenticeship was for you?
I wanted to get out into the working world and not remain in full-time education. However, I do like learning, so I didn't want to stop education altogether. An apprenticeship with DM suited what I wanted to do after A-levels.
What are the benefits of being an apprentice at DM?
DM understands we need to study and have assignments to do. They, therefore, allow apprentices 3.75hrs a week to use in work time to study, which goes a long way! DM also rotates apprentices, so we experience what each sector is like, which improves our experience and knowledge.
What would you say is the most interesting thing you have learnt?
The most interesting thing I have learnt is how a large infrastructure project is delivered from start to finish.
What is your favourite part of your role?
The wide variety of work and time away at university learning.
