What to expect


As a Junior Land Surveyor in our busy Land Surveying and Geomatics Specialist Team, based out of our Crewe Office you will develop your technical skills to, assist the Land Surveying team to carry out land surveys, data collection and setting out for large scale, fast paced utility and infrastructure projects across the country.


As a Junior Land Surveyor you will gradually be given the opportunity to undertake and understand the full range of tasks, standards and deliverables required of the team to, in time, become proficient in all of them and a valued member of the team.


You will gain essential knowledge and skills to help progress own career and complete regular CPD activities towards chosen professional qualification.


 

What you will need


  • An interest in Surveying, Engineering or Geography and have a desire to progress a career in land surveying in the utility and infrastructure sector.

  • Have working knowledge of or interest in using Trimble and Radiodetection Survey Equipment – Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, Laser Scanning, Controllers and Cable and Pipeline Precision Locators and Transmitters.

  • Keen to develop skills in preparing and processing survey data and producing 2D and 3D plans and models in AutoCAD or GIS software.

  • Comfortable meeting people on-site – colleagues, clients, landowners and other stakeholders – and capable of discussing the survey and scheme you are conducting.

  • You will be prepared to occasionally work away from home (accommodation and meals will be provided).

  • You will have great IT skills, be interested in the latest technology and be ready to take on new challenges.

  • You will be organised, results-driven, with great attention to detail and love finding solutions to problems.

  • Have great verbal and written communication skills.

  • May have an interest in rural affairs and experience in utilities, construction or infrastructure (not essential).
