So, what is this Ecology role about?

As an Ecologist within the Environment and Planning team, you will report to the Associate Ecologist and will be working on a whole range of schemes, small through to large schemes. You will be expected to successfully manage any project through the full lifecycle, from pre-application to implementation and monitoring

What will I be doing as an Ecologist?

  • You will be working on schemes for clients primarily based across the UK providing strategic advice to our well-established client base, particularly in the utilities and infrastructure sectors, in addition to site support.

  • You will be expected to undertake ecological surveys and ecological supervision on-site, where opportunities arise within a reasonable distance from your office/home location.

  • No two days will be the same as you will be working on fast-paced reporting regularly to the client and liaising with colleagues, stakeholders and landowners to agree on the scope of work and manage ecological surveys, write and review reports and associated documents, in addition to, undertaking ecological survey work and or supervision.

  • You will be able to give pragmatic advice, be aware of current legislation and policy, to provide appropriate assistance and advice to clients and colleagues.

You will be perfect for this Ecologist role if you…

  • Are an experienced ecologist with experience across a range of ecological disciplines

  • Hold a degree in Ecology or related discipline, together with membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (ideally Associate or Full membership, although graduate membership will be considered)

  • Have experience across a range of ecological disciplines including surveys/Ecological Clerk of Works, Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and protected sites consents (such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) Assents and Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA))

  • Have Experience in undertaking Biodiversity Net Gain calculations, or at least have some knowledge or training in this area.

  • Have Knowledge and experience of working with GIS to record/manage ecological data and producing ecological survey plans

  • Can work collaboratively with colleagues as well as independently and communicate effectively with a range of external stakeholders, clients and team members.

  • Successful track record of delivering high-quality technical work and written reports, including PEA/EcIA and HRA;
